All Those Other Parties

Not only do you have to prepare for your wedding, there are a few other parties you need to attend for your wedding!  These can include a variety of them such as bridal showers, your stagette, the rehearsal dinner and a gift opening.

Your maids of honors or close friends usually plan your bridal shower and stagette.  You might also be asked to attend showers by relatives. 

The stagette is usually a night out with your girlfriends – sometimes strippers are involved depending on your desires and friends.  But, they also have changed from this typical scenario.  There are tons of different things you can do:

- You can have a backyard barbeque party with your future husband and his friends

- Consider an afternoon at a spa (many spas will accommodate you with wine and food – see if you can bring your own also)

- A weekend getaway of skiing, golf or tennis depending on the season

- An afternoon pottery class where your friends design serving plates for you to keep

Whatever your desire or hobby, you can easily turn it into a fun and exciting stagette!  Let your friends know what you would like to do.

Your fiance’s family typically holds the rehearsal dinner.  This can be a dinner out or a barbeque in a backyard.  Usually the attendee’s include all your wedding party (and their spouses or significant others), relatives and any out of town guests.

A gift opening after your wedding (typically held the next day) is your choice.  As one of clients husband said – he didn’t want one, as he didn’t think he could pull off looking excited about opening steak knives! 

It is a nice time for you though to unwind and visit with guests that you didn’t have the chance to at your wedding.  This can be an elaborate spread of appetizers to just serving left-over cake and coffee.

And with all these gifts you are receiving, make sure you send thank you notes to all your guests.  You simply just need to acknowledge the gift and thank them for it.  If you receive money as a gift, let your guest know what you will be doing with the money (using it for your honeymoon, purchasing a patio set etc.).

Remember, all our wedding ideas in our book can easily be switched into party ideas!  For example, for your gift opening, turn it into a theme such as a beach party, Mexican party or garden party!
