Summertime
Fun - Summer Wedding Ideas
Summertime
seems to be one of the most popular times for people to get
married in. And who
can blame us for wanting to incorporate a beautiful summer’s
day and a wedding.
Are you
looking for some fun and unique ways to incorporate this season
with your wedding?
Ø
Nothing says summer than ice cream!
Why not add an ice cream bar to your reception!
Not only will it entertain your guests with what flavour
they are going to try but it also creates a unique place for
people to gather. If you are having children at your wedding, this area will
keep them entertained for a lot of the wedding.
Ø
Use picnic umbrellas on the tables.
If you are having your reception outside, these will be
great for your guests trying to escape the heat!
Ø
Pick your favourite summertime fruit and design some
theme around that particular fruit.
For example, watermelon is known as a quintessential
treat on hot summer days. Consider
serving watermelon treats such as:
Watermelon
Shirley Temples: Combine watermelon juice, lemon lime soda and
confectioner’s sugar for a unique summer time drink treat
Watermelon
Lemonade: Combine diced watermelon, raspberries, water, sugar
and lemon juice
Watermelon,
Ginger & Grapefruit Salad: Combine diced watermelon, pink
grapefruit and ginger stems
Watermelon,
Strawberry-Mint Salad: Combine diced watermelon, strawberries,
red onion, diced jalapenos
Ø
Plan activities and games for your guests to play either
while your getting your pictures done or during the reception.
These can be very simple to very elaborate. Consider typical picnic games like frisbee, horseshoes or
lawn darts. Or
perhaps you really want to get your guests into some active
games such as football, volleyball, badminton or an
old-fashioned sack race.
Ø
Summertime is known for an abundance of different parades
and a parade is never complete without a marching band.
Hire a local high school band to either lead you into
your reception or to entertain the crowd for a while.
Ø
For a buffet reception, use individual picnic baskets for
each guest with their cutlery, napkin, salt and pepper all
packed in the basket. Alternatively,
use brown paper bags and write on them your names and wedding
date.
